Dark comedy theater play

“The sisters Helena and Laura are having an unexpected visit by Synnøve, saleswoman for Kerry May, an empire of makeup and beauty products. Laura is an old raver gone new age that does not use makeup and is not interested in guest. Helena has graduation in design the following day and will preferably have peace to finish the work. As if the overblown makeup seller were not enough, a few ghostly shadows appear. The sisters are put to the test. Who are the shadows of the past? Why did Synnøve appear without warning? Has anyone sent her there? Who the hell could it have been? Is it strange the sisters are angry?”

Video Production

The scene is illuminated by three canvases playing video clips coming as memories, fears and hope. We managed to get good timing for seamless interaction between actors on stage and on video. Video material was filmed on several locations in Bergen, both inside and outside. Direction and filming were following Leia's manus which resulted in intense video clips unexpectedly firing up the atmosphere and immersing viewers.

Design & Illustration

As Madapakaz creative duo we were able to achieve coherent look and feal both in theater play and promotional material. Paka Bloo illustrated poster and flyer elements and made sure the city of Bergen was saturated in them. Digital versions of promo material were shared on social media giving us good response on premiere day and ticket sales.

Makeup & Costume

Paka Bloo, beside illustration, was responsible for makeup and styling of costumes Leia Starmann envisioned. She designed and produced scorpion costume at Madapakaz studio.
